Thoracic breathing is a method used by the body to swiftly draw oxygen into the lungs. It isn't really a breathing technique you would practice regularly, but it does help you prepare for your Yogic Breath . As it is the second of three phases you need to develop your full (3 part) yogic breath. This breathing exercise helps you to notice the middle area of the lobes of the lungs and emphasises the movement of the ribs & chest, whilst minimising abdominal movement. Props: just your mat & maybe a wall.
