In this yin yoga sequence we are focusing on releasing muscle stiffness in the shoulders. Reducing stiffness in these shoulders and connecting area's increases ones mobility. Hence this practice helps increase mobility and range of motion in the shoulder joints, and the muscles connected to it, like the biceps and triceps. The shoulders are also where we store stress or anxiety-related tension, which cause tension, tightness and knots in the shoulders and surrounding areas, neck, back etc. Fortunately, muscle tension in these areas responds well to stretching, yoga and relaxation. So let’s explore several simple poses we can use to help relax, stretch, de-stress and increase our range of motion in through the shoulders. Props: blocks, bolster or pillow.
